Chiropractic care – frequently asked questions
Is Chiropractic care safe?
Chiropractic is extremely safe and a low risk and extremely successful intervention for a variety of pain conditions. On occassions, patients may experience some mild pain or stiffness after an adjustment, however this usually disappears after a short period of time and is a good indication that positive changes are being experienced.
Is a chiropractic adjustment painful?
A Chiropractic adjustment should not be painful. Occasionally patients may find it a little uncomfortable however this is usually due to the associated clicking noise. This noise is nothing to be afraid of and is due to small gas bubbles being released from the joint.
Is a referral from my GP or any other health care professional required?
You do not require a referral from your GP or any other health care professional. After medicine and dentistry, Chiropractic is the third largest primary health care profession in the world. Unfortunately chiropractic is completely private and not covered by the NHS. As a result this does mean that you can book appointments direct without a referral from a GP or health care professional.
How long does it tale for a chiropractic treatment to have an impact?
This will depend on a number of factors including:
- how long you have had the condition
- The severity of the condition
- Your age
- Previous injuries you may have received
- Your general health, diet, fitness.
All patients are different however to ensure that a treatment has the best chance to succeed we would always advise to address your complaint as soon as possible.
How much will my treatment cost?
We have very clear guidelines on the cost of our treatments and more can be found on Our Fees and Treatment Process page.
Is it covered by insurance?
